Emerging market governments face growing pressure from development finance institutions and international investors to produce credible, auditable ESG reports. Existing self-reported data lacks the independent verification infrastructure to satisfy institutional standards.
FCL BLOOMTECH deployed its geospatial ESG platform to provide satellite-based verification of environmental indicators across 47 districts — covering deforestation rates, wetland degradation, soil erosion, and carbon stock estimates. The platform integrates Sentinel-2, Landsat, and commercial satellite data with ground-based monitoring networks.
The result was the country's first fully satellite-verified national sustainability audit — meeting the verification standards required by major DFIs including the IFC and AfDB. The platform achieved 98% spatial coverage of the country's land area and established a replicable annual monitoring methodology.
The government has since used the platform's data to successfully negotiate $200M in green bonds, with the ESG report serving as the primary verification document.
